For adventure seekers, carrying essential EDC is vital for survival and protection in the wild. Flashlight is one of them – be it hiking, camping, fishing, or exploring the great outdoors. There are plenty of options on the market, including Olight, Fenix, Nitecore and ThruNite – known for their brightness levels in a compact form and rugged build that can take on any of nature’s elements.

Wuben, however, wants to get the better of every OG flashlight you swear by with a utilitarian offering that is palm-sized and fits your EDC kit without any headaches. This is the Wuben G5 EDC flashlight that is built for any unknown adventures, proving to be a lifesaver in most situations. Wuben likes to call its outdoor flashlights ECL (Easy Carry Light), and this one is true to its name.

The all-purpose EDC has a design that’s unique compared to similar outdoor gear available for purchase, thus making it worth the attention. Its small form factor, designed to fit in your pocket like a lighter, means you don’t have to make extra space in your backpack if it is already full to the brim. Wuben G5 flashlight comes with a built-in adjustable clip and a strong magnet to tether it to any metal objects. This is useful when your hands are occupied. The accessory comes with a lanyard too, so that you can attach it to anything desired. Compared to the X2 Pro series by the maker, the G5 flashlight loses out on the sidelight and the electronic battery to achieve a compact size.

It is IP68-rated for protection against water dunks up to 2 meters and dirt protection. Also, the pressure-proof design reassures it won’t budge if run over by a vehicle, or if someone accidentally slips on it, or if you throw it in your luggage with heavy items on top. The design of the 52-gram ECL is squarish and flat, so that it doesn’t topple over very easily. On top, there is a flashlight head that turns 180 degrees, for hands-free convenience. A 180-degree movable spring tensioned clip can hook onto things and gives more freedom of movement. This comes in handy when you are moving through a thick jungle of bushes, and you need to keep the light steady, pointed in a particular direction.

The little flashlight can go up to a maximum of 400 lumens brightness, with a beam distance of 82 meters, which is enough illumination in the pitch dark. Depending on usage, the internal battery lasts for around 50 to 60 minutes before needing a recharge. You can toggle the brightness levels using a rotatable tactile switch, or change the color of the projected light in the RGB spectrum. G5 comes with a beacon mode that flashes blue and red light, but we would suggest not using it unless it is an emergency, else you’ll have to do some explaining to the local authorities.

Wuben has cleverly designed the switch on the toggle that alternates to reveal the USB-C charging port. For $25, the compact and lightweight flashlight promises the ultimate convenience and adaptability with its clip-on mechanism.

Author Joanna Maciejewska once said, “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.” She’s right – leave the art to Ghibli and have the AI mow my lawn for god’s sake! I’d choose an AI accountant or lawn-mower a hundred times over an AI artist or poet – so you can anticipate my satisfaction with companies like Lymow actually putting AI to good use with their autonomous lawn mower. This sleek machine embodies exactly what we should be asking of our technology – to handle mundane tasks we’d rather avoid. Let’s be honest, nobody wakes up on a Saturday morning excited to push a noisy, gas-guzzling contraption around their yard for hours. The Lymow One exists to give you that time back, handling the lawn while you handle… well, literally anything else you’d prefer to be doing.

Now with over $5 million funded on Kickstarter (making it the No.1 robotic mower on the platform), Lymow highlighted its flagship mower at CES 2025, highlighting its unique mulching blades, which cut grass in a way that doesn’t leave clumps across your lawn. Instead, mulching benefits your lawn by giving it a layer of organic matter that naturally returns nutrients back to the soil, keeping it nourished. Hardly any robotic lawn mowers do this as effectively (with dual-blades and a high-speed fan to distribute the clippings) – which is what puts Lymow One ahead of the pack, coupled with its other game-changing features like its incredible battery that gives it 5x more coverage than other mowers, or the AI vision-assisted RTK satellite navigation system, or even the treaded tires that allow it to traverse across any terrain with ease.

Designer: Lymow

Click Here to Buy Now: $1999 $2999 ($1000 off). Hurry, only 9/470 left! Raised over $5.1 million.

The Lymow One’s robust metal-enclosure aesthetic feels very ‘age of the robots’ but not in a scary way – in a way that empowers humans. The mower sports a predominantly monochrome exterior with black accents and bright red details that highlight its cutting mechanisms. However, the one detail that you’ll probably notice first is the absence of traditional wheels.

Instead of regular wheels, the Lymow One goes for almost military-esque tank treads that definitely bestow an air of seriousness to the robot. The Lymow One uses those rugged, tank-like wheels to navigate rough, uneven terrain with ease. A pair of omnidirectional wheels on the front allow the mower to stay in sync with the terrain for highly consistent cutting. A brand representative claims it can clear obstacles up to 2 inches (50mm) high, handle slopes as steep as 45° (100% gradient), and even climb low steps. It’s also impressively efficient, capable of covering up to 1.73 acres (7000 m²) in a single day.

The Lymow One’s mulching capability really gives it a superior edge over other robot mowers. The LyCut dual blades don’t simply cut grass and discard it—they finely mulch clippings and distribute them evenly across your lawn with the help of two high-speed expel fans built into the cutting deck. This natural fertilization process returns valuable nutrients to your soil, promoting healthier grass growth while eliminating the need for bagging and disposal. The 6000 RPM powerful rotary blades effortlessly tackle all types of grass, including St. Augustine, Zoysia, Tall Fescue, and more—no matter how tough or dense the grass is.

Technically speaking, this mower is a powerhouse. It features a 528Wh super longevity LiFePO4 battery (15,000 mAh at 36V) that delivers impressive performance, covering approximately 25,000 square feet (2,300 m²) on a single charge. When the battery runs low, the Lymow One automatically returns to its charging dock, powers up in just 90 minutes to 90% capacity, and continues where it left off. The mower’s cutting system uses dual mulching blades spinning at 6,000 RPM with a 16-inch (405mm) cutting width that can be adjusted between heights of 1.2 to 4 inches (30-100mm), giving you precise control over your lawn’s appearance. You can even customize the stripe angle to achieve the perfect look for your lawn.

Unlike older robotic mowers that require you to install boundary wires around your yard (a tedious weekend project in itself), the Lymow One uses its proprietary LySee Multi-Fusion Navigation System to help it create detailed maps of your property with centimeter-level precision and navigate with astonishing accuracy. By combining VSLAM with RTK satellite positioning, the navigation system ensures mowing stays uninterrupted even if there’s a temporary disruption from weather or obstacles. The mower combines this AI-powered binocular camera setup with input from five ultrasonic sensors, front bumpers, and off-ground detection mechanisms to detect obstacles, adjust for terrain changes, and optimize cutting patterns.

The companion app allows you to establish virtual boundaries, schedule mowing sessions, monitor progress in real-time, and even create custom zones with different cutting heights and stripe angles. Want your front yard cut to a pristine 1.5 inches but prefer the backyard a bit longer at 2.5 inches? A few taps in the app and it’s done. The software also provides maintenance reminders and updates itself automatically to improve performance over time.

GPS tracking means you’ll always know where your mower is located. The Lymow One includes an anti-theft system that detects motion and triggers an alarm if someone attempts to move it without authorization. Additionally, the machine is PIN-protected through the app, rendering it useless if stolen.

The Lymow One carries an IPX6 rating, meaning it can handle rainy conditions without issue. The mower is smart enough to return to its dock during heavy downpours and resume once conditions improve.

The Lymow One represents what consumer technology should be – tools that handle tedious tasks so we can focus on what matters. While AI might be writing articles elsewhere, I’d much rather have it cutting my grass, giving me back those precious weekend hours for literally anything else. Heck, the enterprising Gujarati boy I am, I’d probably get it to mow my neighborhood’s lawn too and make some extra cash on the side. The point I’m making is that AI should work for you rather than the other way around – and with the Lymow One, it certainly does.

This Tiny 90,000 RPM Air Duster Doubles as a Portable Fan + 10,000mAh Power Bank

]]>

I bought my mum a portable fan this year – we live in a city that can sometimes hit upwards of 110°F (43°C) in the summers, and when you’re in the outdoors, that’s a recipe for a heat stroke. This portable fan, which I picked up online, does the basics well. It’s tiny, has 5 fan speeds, and even doubles as a room-temperature hair dryer… but that’s about it. It doesn’t have any added features, can’t charge devices, doesn’t have any modules, and won’t function as anything more than just a personal fan. It got me thinking – the tech’s all there, all you really need to add to it is modularity and this fan can be so much more. Needless to say, I wasn’t the only one having those thoughts, given that the Halo modular duster is quite literally the device I had in mind.

About the size of a granola bar, the Halo is a modular duster that combines a powerful fan with a powerful battery. The fan outputs a staggering 90,000 RPM (enough to work as a handheld blower), while the battery has a capacity of 10,000mAh. Together, they’re unstoppable, but separate them and you’ve now got something far more interesting – a fan that can be run via USB-C while a battery pack that can operate as a power bank. The modularity extends in other directions too, like a nozzle that allows to channel the fan’s air into a concentrated stream for blowing dust or even for inflating objects like pool paraphernalia.

Designer: Halo

Click Here to Buy Now: $109 $219 ($110 off). Hurry, only 368/500 left!

The entire device looks fairly Cyberpunk-ish, with its metal exterior, chiseled form, RGB light, and LED screen. This design aesthetic bestows a kind of seriousness to the product, highlighting its power and capabilities. The Halo comes as a single device, with the fan snapped on top of the battery, creating this handheld baton-like form that’s perfect for holding and pointing – either at yourself to keep you cool during the hot summer months, or at a dusty surface to blow the dust and debris away, whether it’s an old skateboard/bicycle, or cheetos-crumbs on your keyboard (hey, it happens!)

Split the two apart, however, and you’ve got individual modules that handle their own tasks fairly well. The fan mounts onto a direct power module that lets you connect a USB-C source to power the blades, with a tripod mount on the bottom to let you place the gizmo on your desk facing you while you work. Or hey, facing your CPU that might get heated while running an AI model locally, or playing a high-intensity game.

The fan outputs a staggering 90,000 RPM (for example, a computer fan spins at 5000 RPM, a plane’s turbine spins at 25,000 RPM). Obviously size plays a major role in the output of a fan’s breeze, but at 90,000RPM, it’s safe to say that even though the Halo has a tiny fan, it’s very powerful, outputting winds at 39m/s. The wind is enough to feel comparable to a strong breeze (with 5 speed settings), and channel it with the nozzle and it becomes even more potent, helping blow dust off objects like a dust-buster would. The nozzle can even be used to inflate things, like balloons, toys, pillows, or even pool/swimming accessories.

Meanwhile, the battery model is an absolute unit too. With 10,000mAh of capacity, it’s powerful enough to run the fan but also to charge devices like your phone, tablet, earbuds, or any other portable tech device. An LCD screen on one side displays charging information, battery capacity, and other relevant details, making the Halo a little more advanced than your average plastic-brick power bank. The entire battery (and the fan’s enclosure) is machined out of aluminum too, giving it a distinct aesthetic while helping dissipate heat. And if all that wasn’t cyberpunky enough, the battery module even sports an RGB light strip on the side, adding to its overall appeal.

Each Halo comes in 4 parts – the fan and battery, along with the accessories, i.e., the power module and the detachable nozzle for the fan. The kit starts at $109, and an extra battery pack costs $69 if you don’t like the idea of waiting while your Halo charges. The Halo ships globally with a 1-year warranty on the entire device. Grab yours now before the summer gets too intense!

]]>

Vertical gardening is the method of growing plants within compact spaces, which makes it an ideal solution for smaller living environments. As our homes get smaller, particularly in urban areas with limited outdoor space like apartments with only a balcony, we still crave greenery. One solution to this problem is growing vertical gardens that can thrive in smaller gardens, patios, or even small outdoor spaces, offering a way to grow vegetables, herbs, and other plants in tight spaces. Studies indicate the global vertical garden construction market is valued at USD 1.30 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 3.04 billion by 2034, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.90%.

Unlike traditional horizontal gardening, vertical gardens utilize vertical space. Two main types of vertical gardens include green façades, where plants climb specially designed structures from the ground or elevated containers, and living walls, which feature pre-planted panels attached to a vertical surface. By mitigating the urban heat island effect, reducing smog, and fostering healthy habitats for birds and insects, vertical gardens are becoming a popular choice for sustainable urban development. Vertical gardens not only create an intriguing design pattern but also offer numerous additional benefits:

Improves Air Quality

Vertical gardening enhances air quality and provides natural insulation for your home. It also encourages you to grow your own produce. With better exposure to sunlight, plants thrive, and the overall environment benefits. Vertical gardens can lower both indoor and outdoor temperatures, reduce CO2 levels, and increase oxygen levels. They also remove harmful VOCs and pollutants from the air, contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment.

Growing plants above the ground helps reduce the risk of pest infestations and diseases, promoting the growth of healthier plants. Additionally, vertical gardens improve air circulation around plants, reducing the likelihood of fungal diseases and prevent moisture buildup.

Elpo is a smart biofilter that functions as both an indoor garden and an air purifier and is designed to enhance indoor air quality and maintain healthy moisture levels. Created by designers Kārlis Vītols, Lolita Epnere, and Buka Bērziņa, Elpo was inspired by the growing need for better air filtration in collaborative spaces, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic shifted focus to indoor environments. It combines nature and technology to improve the air we breathe.

The biofilter uses plants that absorb airborne toxins and gases and purify the air through their roots. Equipped with smart technology, Elpo features automated lighting, fans, and irrigation to care for the plants. In addition to improving air quality, Elpo serves as a stylish room divider, enhancing office or home spaces. Its modular design allows users to create a custom biofilter system, spanning any room’s width while offering both functionality and a sleek, modern aesthetic.

Maximizes Space

Vertical gardening maximizes limited space as you can grow more plants in a smaller area and by implementing efficient watering systems. Since plants grow upward in a vertical direction, this method fully utilizes the available space and can be successfully incorporated into balconies, blank indoor walls, or other compact areas.

It’s also an effective solution for creating screens that block unsightly views. Another advantage is that it eliminates the need for bending or kneeling, making it easier to access plants and reducing strain, which makes it ideal for those with limited accessibility.

Heatherwick Studio designed the Xi’an Tree, which is a striking vertical park and viewing point in Xi’an, China. Resembling a tree, it features stepped terraces that offer visitors spectacular views. Located in the Xi’an Centre Culture Business District (CCBD), south of the historic city center, the park is nestled between ancient temple ruins and a tower. The 56 terraces host various plant species, reflecting the biodiversity of the Silk Road, with microclimates supporting different ecosystems.

The design of the Xi’an Tree and the district draws inspiration from Xi’an’s Terracotta Army, with over 100,000 ceramic tiles created in collaboration with local craftsmen. The district’s aesthetic incorporates elements of traditional Chinese temple roofs, blending modern architecture with cultural heritage.

Reduces Noise

Plants can absorb sound waves and act as a barrier between the source and the listener, which helps create a quieter and more peaceful environment. This makes them especially useful in noisy neighborhoods. Vertical gardens are also ideal for spaces like home offices or libraries, where lower decibel levels are crucial for maintaining focus and concentration. The best plants for this purpose are small, compact, and low-growing.

In addition to sound absorption, plants also provide natural insulation. They are particularly effective at blocking low-frequency sounds, and the layers between the plants and walls add extra insulation, further enhancing noise reduction.

Loop Design Studio’s Playground Restaurant in Chandigarh, India, blends the city’s brutalist heritage with playful biophilic design elements. Located in the commercial hub, the space features a cinder block wall with an irregular pattern, merging concrete with vibrant greenery. Overhead, a translucent glass ceiling allows soft light to filter through, creating an airy atmosphere.

Concrete planters are used to create a vertical garden, and vines are used to soften the industrial aesthetic, while vintage Edison bulbs provide a warm, golden glow throughout the restaurant. The interior mixes rustic charm with modern design, featuring mismatched wooden tables and walls lined with audio cassette tapes. Cinder block shelves are filled with plants and lighting fixtures, enhancing the cozy, inviting ambiance. By embracing Chandigarh’s concrete roots and natural elements, Playground Restaurant provides a refreshing and unique dining experience.

Aesthetically Pleasing

Introducing greenery into your home, whether through plants or herbs, adds a vibrant and refreshing touch to any space. Vertical gardens, with their living walls, are both functional and visually striking, offering a beautiful display of color, texture, and patterns created by different plant varieties. These green features serve as eye-catching focal points that enhance the ambiance of any room, bringing life and energy into the environment.

The best part about vertical gardens is that plants can flourish in soilless vertical setups, allowing you to enjoy the satisfaction of growing and harvesting your food. Also, a thoughtful arrangement of plants can create intriguing patterns, transforming spaces like living rooms, hallways, or entry foyers into stunning focal points.

Living In the Noom is designed by Sanzpont Arquitectura, and is a remarkable fusion of nature and luxury. This eco-conscious community features four-story houses with a unique triangular shape, surrounded by vertical forests on the building’s facade. The design emphasizes wellness, sustainability, and flexibility, with solar panels on the rooftop and an urban garden for residents to grow food. The community’s green spaces cover 70% of the area, offering a sanctuary-like environment for its residents.

The Noom project incorporates several sustainable strategies, including rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment, biodigesters, and natural ventilation to reduce energy consumption. The vertical forests not only provide greenery but also purify the air and help regulate indoor temperatures, reducing the Heat Island Effect. Apartments are designed to maximize natural light and ventilation, ensuring comfort while cutting energy use by up to 85%.

Reduced Water Consumption

One of the key benefits of vertical gardening is its ability to maximize water efficiency by directing water straight to the roots, minimizing evaporation, and ensuring even distribution. The vertical structure also improves drainage and aeration and prevents overwatering alongside waterlogging. Additionally, it enables rainwater harvesting and also provides the perfect set up that supports the growth of drought-tolerant plants.

Drip irrigation, for example, delivers water precisely where it is needed, reducing waste. Furthermore, incorporating recycled or greywater, which is treated wastewater from sinks or showers, makes irrigation more sustainable.
The innovative use of materials and the design of vertical gardens also help retain moisture, ensuring plants have consistent access to water when needed.

When people seek to enhance their living spaces, modular vertical gardens have become a popular choice. These systems not only introduce greenery and improve air quality but also provide fresh herbs while maximizing space efficiency. With the increasing demand for fresh produce in compact areas, modular vertical gardens provide an affordable and low-maintenance solution.

Many modular vertical gardens feature pre-planted seed pods and self-watering systems that operate without electricity. Transparent sections allow roots to receive adequate light, while integrated grow lights support plant health in dim settings. Some models even repurpose wastewater from air conditioning units and include mesh covers to prevent debris buildup.

With expandable configurations and larger water tanks available, vertical gardens present a practical and sustainable approach to urban gardening, making them ideal for homes and shared spaces. When selecting a location, it is important to choose a wall that receives plenty of sunlight and consider using local plants for the best results.

The call of the wild has grown stronger in recent years, with more people seeking solace in natural surroundings. Whether it’s a day trip to a local park or a weekend camping under star-filled skies, these outdoor escapes offer a refreshing break from our digital lives. The sensory experience of nature – the sights, sounds, and textures – creates a powerful connection that many find healing and rejuvenating.

Yet for all the beauty of outdoor spaces, not everyone appreciates all the natural aromas that come with them. Campfire smoke, damp earth, and woodland scents can sometimes be overwhelming or simply not to everyone’s taste. Traditional solutions like air fresheners often smell artificial, while lighting scented candles creates fire hazards in outdoor settings, something no responsible camper wants to risk in natural environments.

Designers: Juhyeon Kwon, Gagyeong Min

Enter the Matryona, a thoughtfully designed concept that merges functionality with cultural symbolism. This portable scented candle warmer draws inspiration from the iconic Russian nesting doll, known as the Matryoshka. These traditional wooden dolls, with their nested design where smaller figures fit inside larger ones, have captivated people worldwide for centuries with their playful yet meaningful representation of family lineage and nurturing protection.

The concept works through a simple yet clever mechanism. Lifting the upper half of the jar-shaped lamp activates a gentle light that slowly warms and melts scented candles placed in the basin below. This flameless approach eliminates fire risks while still releasing fragrant aromas into your camping area. The warming process is gradual and controlled, allowing the scents to disperse naturally without the harsh chemical notes often found in spray fresheners.

What makes this concept truly special is how it incorporates the nested design philosophy of Matryoshka dolls. The scented candles themselves are shaped like miniature versions of the lamp, creating a delightful visual harmony when arranged inside. The design features soft, rounded contours and soothing pastel colors that complement natural surroundings rather than competing with them. The lamp’s warm glow adds a comforting ambiance to evening gatherings around camp, creating a cozy atmosphere without the dangers of open flames.

The candles come in various natural scents that can be combined in different ratios, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to create custom aromas suited to their preferences. Pine, cedar, lavender, and citrus options might help enhance the woodland experience or mask less pleasant natural odors without introducing artificial-smelling chemicals into pristine environments. For those seeking to create a personal sanctuary within nature’s vast spaces, this concept offers a way to gently customize your sensory experience without disrupting the natural environment or risking safety.

Fitting a family of four in a camper van feels overly cramped, and here is a manufacturer in Birmingham, Alabama, that’s talking about accommodating a group of five with ease. Too good to be true, but it’s worth delving into the details about how Storyteller Overland is actually making it possible.

The journey of this five-seat, five-sleeper camper van starts with an AWD Mercedes-Benz 170” high roof 3500 dually Sprinter, which is rugged and versatile for what we are about to explore. The Sprinter is customized for the convenience of an entire crew, and is aptly called the Crew Mode complete with a pop-top sleeping unit. Already excited? The roof is not even the most exciting part.

Designer: Storyteller Overland

The highlight of the Crew Mode is a nice and thoughtful floor plan, which divides the camper van into three sections: sitting, working and sleeping, if you may. The first up, right in the front, is the commuter zone designed to seat five people. The standard bench, behind the cab seats, has been replaced with three individual chairs placed in a row spanning across the width of the camper van. The passenger-side rear seat is removable, while the cab seats can rotate backwards and the remaining two rear seats can swivel to align against the wall on the driver side, transforming the space into a lounge-style seating arrangement.

When you arrive in the middle of the Crew Mode, you will find a kitchen setup on one side and, believe me, a functional bathroom on the other. The kitchen is compact, but also pretty functional with an induction cooktop, an option of microwave or air fryer, space for a mini fridge. The flip-up counter extension helps increase the workspace. The van is equipped with Storyteller Overland’s own Boombox bathroom, which comprises a flushing toilet, outdoor shower inside a single compartment that can double as a closet for drying laundry.

After a good dump and a sumptuous meal, when it is time to hit the bed, the residents can retire to the third or rearmost section of the camper van. It’s here you have Storyteller “TroupeLounge” – two camper lounges – facing each other with a space in between occupied by a removable table. The loungers can convert into a queen bed, which, along with a hard-walled pop-up roof, accommodating another full-size bed, complete the sleeping solution for five people. The roof is easily accessible from the inside via an overhead hatch.

Another interesting aspect of the Crew Mode is the way it transitions the back section into a toy hauler. A five-foot-long slide-out tray hides within the floor between the two loungers. It can retract out to load a bike or a surfboard and be repositioned inside the camper van for hauling it along to your new adventure. Since the 170” Sprinter is designed to go anywhere, Storyteller packs the Crew with reasons to stay longer outdoors. It comes with its own water facility, has a 345-watt solar power output capacity, and an onboard 16.8-kWh battery pack. The off-grid camper van is It’s available starting at $249,000.

Pocket knives have become essential companions for outdoor enthusiasts and everyday carry (EDC) fans alike. These versatile tools help us tackle everything from opening packages to emergency situations on hiking trails. But while most folding knives embrace a rugged, tactical aesthetic that screams seriousness, the Landeriimote from Knafs dares to be different by drawing inspiration from one of gaming’s most iconic controllers: the Nintendo Wii Remote, or “Wiimote.”

The marriage between gaming nostalgia and practical cutting tools might seem unusual at first glance, but this limited-edition folding knife proves that functionality doesn’t have to sacrifice personality. The Landeriimote transforms the familiar white controller design into a fully functional pocket knife that performs as well as it entertains. With its pristine white handle and playful details, this knife brings a refreshing twist to the typically stern world of EDC gear.

Designer: Michael Reed for Knafs

Looking at the Landeriimote’s handle, gaming enthusiasts will immediately recognize the faithful recreation of Nintendo’s revolutionary controller. Every detail has been meticulously captured, from the directional pad and A button on the front to the B trigger on the underside. The designers even included the signature wrist strap that prevented countless televisions from meeting their demise during enthusiastic gaming sessions, now repurposed to keep your knife secure during outdoor adventures.

Despite its playful appearance, the Landeriimote doesn’t compromise on performance. Built on Knafs’ reliable Lander 2 platform, this special edition knife features premium S35VN blade steel that holds an edge through tough cutting tasks. The knife deploys smoothly with a satisfying action, proving that serious cutting capability can coexist with whimsical design elements. When closed, the blade disappears completely into the handle, maintaining the controller-inspired aesthetic.

The Landeriimote represents a refreshing departure from the notion that outdoor and EDC gear must always project toughness and utility above all else. This limited-edition knife demonstrates that tools can express personality while still performing their intended functions admirably. For gamers who love the outdoors or knife enthusiasts with a playful side, this unique blade offers the perfect blend of nostalgia and practicality.

What makes the Landeriimote truly special is how it bridges different worlds. The knife celebrates the revolutionary Wii controller that changed gaming by introducing motion controls to millions of players worldwide. Now that same innovative spirit lives on in a tool that accompanies adventures beyond the screen. Whether you’re setting up camp, preparing food on a trail, or just handling everyday tasks, this knife brings a smile along with its cutting edge.

Say hello to the EO Canopy by Electric Outdoors—a groundbreaking camping platform that brings all the city comforts to the great outdoors, entirely powered by solar energy and batteries. No need for infrastructure development or permits, as this innovative setup is classified as a “canopy.” Plus, it even generates its water. The EO Canopy is far from your typical and tiny travel canopy, it is powered by a 154-kWh sodium-ion battery pack that can be quadrupled if needed. It is also equipped with a 6,600-watt, full solar-tracking roof that can generate 45-64 kWh of power each day – it offers an endless supply of power.

This solar setup can power about two American homes each day. It also provides enough juice to recharge your Tesla, Rivian, or other electric vehicles with a 150-mile (241-km) range—thanks to the included Level 2 charging station. And with the 154-kWh battery bank, you can keep the AC running for as long as you like.

Designer: Electric Outdoors

The canopy is blessed with 30- and 50-amp connections, serving as a reliable power source for your RV and power tools. If connected to the electrical grid, the EO Canopy is capable of supplying excess solar power back to the grid. It is designed to generate surplus solar energy, although such a product would rarely need to be utilized near a grid. It can also produce its drinking water! Equipped with an integrated atmospheric water generator, it can generate 18 gallons (68 liters) of purified drinking water daily, directly from the air, and any excess water is stored in a 100-gallon (378-liter) tank.

The off-grid platform is also outfitted with Starlink, and it also features an AWS cloud backbone and a fully integrated app for your smartphone, providing continuous access to Amazon Web Services. This setup allows you to securely monitor power usage and other sustainability metrics, which you can proudly share with others curious about your off-the-grid home! The rig includes a complete wet bath with a recirculating shower system that filters and purifies 70% of the water used, allowing you to enjoy a shower after a day out in the wild outdoors.

The EO Canopy features an incineration toilet, transforming waste into ash, and uses 1-3 kWh per flush. With a 154 kWh battery and 6,600 watts of solar power, energy usage is no concern. It includes a kitchenette that is basic and simple, amped with a freezer/cooler, and a two-burner induction cooktop. Sadly, the kitchen does have limited counter space. Inside its 8 by 20 feet living space, there’s modest storage, sliding barn doors, and a choice between 2 or 4 beds, illuminated by LED lighting. The 8-foot covered patio is perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Priced at around $150,000, the EO Canopy offers a comprehensive off-grid experience.

As a backpacker, you can go wrong with so many things out there. One thing that you don’t want to go wrong with is the tent you’re hauling. If it’s cumbersome to pitch and heavy to carry, you’ve made certain that your trip’s ruined. This is why hikers embrace the freedom that comes with lightweight backpacking tents such as the X-Mid 2. Developed by Canadian outdoor gear manufacturer Durston, the tent is way ahead of the curve owing to its exceptionally lightweight, spacious, and storm-worthy construction.

In its updated version, the spaciousness, novel construction, and material usage remain undisturbed, while the X-Mid 2 is skimmed off some pounds to make it an even more compelling backpacking partner. Since its launch in 2019, the two-person tent has grown into a fan favorite with its solid, ultralight approach. Without giving up on any of its inherent qualities, the 2025 X-Mid 2 now weighs just 1.9 lbs (880 g), which is a good 5 oz (140 g) less than the previous 2.2 lb (1 kg) model.

Designer: Durston

For us on a diet that would seem like insignificant weight loss, but if you ask a hiker, it’s enough shaving to put the tent into the league of the most efficient and functional trekking pole shelters. X-Mid 2 achieves this sub 2 lb weight proposition by lighter and stronger trekking pole structure instead of traditional tent poles, and the use of 15D high tenacity silpoly fabric, which makes the weight difference while retaining similar strength and durability. The latter is ensured by the X-Mid shape where every panel is at a 50-55 degrees slope which makes it suitable for windy and snowy conditions.

In a broader light, ultralight tents are conjured up by shrinking the size and compromising durability, but the X-Mid 2 stays strong with a functional and spacious design that can withstand all weather conditions. Unfolding into a durable shelter from a compact ball wrapped up, the X-Mid 2 pitches in seconds using only four stakes at the corners and a pair of height-adjustable trekking poles diagonally placed left and right of the sizable zipper entrance.

The tent comprises a fly and mesh inner tent; a double-wall design wherein the outer rainfly extends low to the ground to avoid drafts and splatter. It can also be set up standalone (with only one composition) depending on the time of the year you’re using it. Given its convenience, it can be used in different orientations by rolling up the sides for stargazing, idling, or soaking up the sun. On the inside of the X-Mid 2 you get 52 inches wide and 92 inches long floor space, and 45 inches of headroom to easily accommodate two full gown individuals. The revised edition of the ultralightweight X-Mid 2 is currently available for preorder starting at $280. Delivery is expected to begin in April.
