The first time I used a laser cutter was in my university’s fabrication lab. It felt like operating a small nuclear reactor – there was a mandatory safety course, supervision requirements, and enough warning labels to make me genuinely concerned about spontaneous combustion. For years, laser cutting remained this mystical, slightly terrifying technology that lived behind institutional walls. Fast forward to today, and I’m looking at Creality’s Falcon A1 sitting on a desk, looking about as threatening as a microwave oven – albeit one that can engrave Batman logos onto leather wallets.

Creality, the company that helped democratize 3D printing with its affordable Ender series, is now attempting the same revolution with laser cutting technology. The Falcon A1 is their enclosed 10W laser engraver and cutter that promises to bring professional-grade capabilities to your desktop without requiring a fire marshal on standby.

AI-Powered Material Recognition: The End of Parameter Guesswork

If you’ve ever used a laser cutter, you know the anxiety of setting power and speed parameters. Too much power and you burn through your material; too little and you barely make a mark. The Falcon A1 tackles this common frustration with its innovative material recognition system.

The machine features a built-in QR code system that automatically detects Creality’s specially marked materials. When you place one of these materials in the workspace, the Falcon A1 identifies it and automatically loads the optimal cutting or engraving parameters. No more guesswork, no more test cuts, and no more wasted materials.

For beginners, this feature is transformative. It removes one of the steepest parts of the learning curve and allows new users to achieve professional-quality results from their very first project. For experienced users, it saves valuable time that would otherwise be spent on parameter testing and adjustment. In the long run, it streamlines work, doing for materials what barcodes do for items in a grocery store.

The system currently works with Creality’s range of compatible materials, which includes various types of wood, acrylic, leather, and more. Each comes with its own QR code that the machine scans to identify the exact material type and thickness. While this does create some ecosystem lock-in, the convenience factor is substantial enough that many users will find it worthwhile.

Even when working with non-Creality materials, the software includes a comprehensive material library with recommended settings that serve as excellent starting points, significantly reducing the trial-and-error process. Just note that highly reflective materials like mirrored metals are off-limits – physics still has some rules that even Creality can’t bend.

Safety First, Intimidation Last

The most striking thing about the Falcon A1 is its fully enclosed design, which for Creality’s first-ever laser-cutting product, really looks like a polished consumer gadget rather than a trial device. The black and orange aesthetic is distinctly Creality, with a transparent viewing window that lets you watch the laser do its magic while blocking harmful light. The enclosure contains smoke, prevents accidental exposure to the beam, and includes multiple safety mechanisms, including magnetic door sensors that automatically pause operation when opened.

With its Class 1 safety certification, you can actually skip the safety glasses – a refreshing change from the institutional paranoia I’ve experienced around industrial laser systems. There’s even an emergency stop button just in case you want to quickly pause a job for whatever reason.

Power in a Small Package

Powering the Falcon A1 is a 10W optical output laser module. Translation for the non-technical: this thing can cut through 9.6mm acrylic and 5mm wood in a single pass. For engraving, it handles everything from wood and leather to glass, stone, and anodized aluminum with 0.01mm precision.

The 381 x 305mm working area hits the sweet spot for hobbyist and small business use – large enough for meaningful projects but compact enough to fit on a desk. The machine itself measures 567 × 468 × 196mm and weighs a manageable 20 pounds (9.1 kg), making it apartment-friendly (though your roommates might question the burning smell when you’re cutting wood). The CoreXY motion system is no slouch either, zipping along at speeds up to 600mm/s – fast enough to make you question whether you’re watching a time-lapse video.

Smart Camera: Your Digital Third Eye

Unlike traditional laser cutters where positioning is a game of mathematical guesswork, the Falcon A1 provides a full-frame view of your workspace in real-time thanks to its pre-calibrated high-definition camera system that transforms how you interact with your projects. The camera system creates what Creality calls a “what you see is what you get” experience. You can literally drag and drop your design onto the exact location where you want it on your material, with the camera showing you precisely how it will be positioned. This eliminates the frustrating trial-and-error approach that wastes materials and time.

Perhaps even more impressive is the camera’s auto-positioning and batch-filling capabilities. If you’re creating multiple identical items (think business cards, coasters, or jewelry pieces), the system can automatically detect available space on your material and populate it with copies of your design. This feature alone can dramatically increase production efficiency for small businesses or high-volume hobbyists. The camera also serves as a safety feature, allowing you to monitor the cutting process remotely through the software interface. If anything looks amiss, you can pause or stop the job without opening the enclosure and interrupting the protective environment. That said, some users report needing to manually calibrate the camera despite its “pre-calibrated” status – a minor inconvenience in an otherwise slick system.

Smart Features for Newbie Users

What truly separates the Falcon A1 from industrial machines is its user-friendly approach. Beyond the camera system and material recognition, the accompanying Falcon Design Space software lets you import designs in common formats like SVG, JPG, PNG, and DXF, with the ability to adjust parameters for different materials.

The machine connects via Wi-Fi, USB, or through the cloud, allowing you to send projects from virtually anywhere – though I wouldn’t recommend remote laser cutting unless you enjoy living dangerously. The integrated smoke extraction system routes fumes outside through an exhaust tube, though you’ll still want to place it near a window or ventilated area. No laser cutter can completely eliminate the distinctive smell of vaporized materials, after all.

Democratizing Digital Fabrication

At $499-$550, the Falcon A1 occupies an interesting middle ground in the market. It’s significantly more capable than the sub-$300 open-frame laser engravers flooding Amazon, but far more affordable than professional systems from companies like Epilog or Trotec that start at several thousand dollars. This positioning makes it perfect for several user groups: makers looking to add laser cutting to their arsenal, small businesses wanting to produce custom products, and educational settings where safety is paramount but budgets are tight.

I can easily imagine Etsy sellers using this to create custom wooden signs, jewelry makers cutting intricate acrylic pieces, or hobbyists finally being able to create those precise model parts that scissors and X-Acto knives simply can’t manage.

Editor’s Take: Close to a Cutting-Edge Revolution

What excites me most about the Falcon A1 isn’t just what it can do, but what it represents. Just as consumer 3D printers transformed from expensive curiosities to mainstream tools, laser cutters are following the same trajectory – just a few years behind.

The Falcon A1 isn’t perfect – serious power users will eventually want more cutting capability, and the software, while functional, has been reported to have some calibration issues and a learning curve for beginners. But it succeeds brilliantly at its primary mission: making laser cutting accessible, safe, and approachable.

For many creators, this machine will be their first step into laser cutting – a technology that was previously out of reach due to cost, space requirements, or safety concerns. That’s genuinely exciting, and I can’t wait to see what people create with tools like this.

If you’ve been curious about laser cutting but intimidated by the complexity, cost, or safety concerns, the Falcon A1 might be the machine that finally lets you add “laser wizard” to your maker resume. Just remember to open a window – even the smartest laser cutter can’t eliminate the distinctive smell of your creative ambitions accidentally triggering a smoke detector!

Author Joanna Maciejewska once said, “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.” She’s right – leave the art to Ghibli and have the AI mow my lawn for god’s sake! I’d choose an AI accountant or lawn-mower a hundred times over an AI artist or poet – so you can anticipate my satisfaction with companies like Lymow actually putting AI to good use with their autonomous lawn mower. This sleek machine embodies exactly what we should be asking of our technology – to handle mundane tasks we’d rather avoid. Let’s be honest, nobody wakes up on a Saturday morning excited to push a noisy, gas-guzzling contraption around their yard for hours. The Lymow One exists to give you that time back, handling the lawn while you handle… well, literally anything else you’d prefer to be doing.

Now with over $5 million funded on Kickstarter (making it the No.1 robotic mower on the platform), Lymow highlighted its flagship mower at CES 2025, highlighting its unique mulching blades, which cut grass in a way that doesn’t leave clumps across your lawn. Instead, mulching benefits your lawn by giving it a layer of organic matter that naturally returns nutrients back to the soil, keeping it nourished. Hardly any robotic lawn mowers do this as effectively (with dual-blades and a high-speed fan to distribute the clippings) – which is what puts Lymow One ahead of the pack, coupled with its other game-changing features like its incredible battery that gives it 5x more coverage than other mowers, or the AI vision-assisted RTK satellite navigation system, or even the treaded tires that allow it to traverse across any terrain with ease.

Designer: Lymow

Click Here to Buy Now: $1999 $2999 ($1000 off). Hurry, only 9/470 left! Raised over $5.1 million.

The Lymow One’s robust metal-enclosure aesthetic feels very ‘age of the robots’ but not in a scary way – in a way that empowers humans. The mower sports a predominantly monochrome exterior with black accents and bright red details that highlight its cutting mechanisms. However, the one detail that you’ll probably notice first is the absence of traditional wheels.

Instead of regular wheels, the Lymow One goes for almost military-esque tank treads that definitely bestow an air of seriousness to the robot. The Lymow One uses those rugged, tank-like wheels to navigate rough, uneven terrain with ease. A pair of omnidirectional wheels on the front allow the mower to stay in sync with the terrain for highly consistent cutting. A brand representative claims it can clear obstacles up to 2 inches (50mm) high, handle slopes as steep as 45° (100% gradient), and even climb low steps. It’s also impressively efficient, capable of covering up to 1.73 acres (7000 m²) in a single day.

The Lymow One’s mulching capability really gives it a superior edge over other robot mowers. The LyCut dual blades don’t simply cut grass and discard it—they finely mulch clippings and distribute them evenly across your lawn with the help of two high-speed expel fans built into the cutting deck. This natural fertilization process returns valuable nutrients to your soil, promoting healthier grass growth while eliminating the need for bagging and disposal. The 6000 RPM powerful rotary blades effortlessly tackle all types of grass, including St. Augustine, Zoysia, Tall Fescue, and more—no matter how tough or dense the grass is.

Technically speaking, this mower is a powerhouse. It features a 528Wh super longevity LiFePO4 battery (15,000 mAh at 36V) that delivers impressive performance, covering approximately 25,000 square feet (2,300 m²) on a single charge. When the battery runs low, the Lymow One automatically returns to its charging dock, powers up in just 90 minutes to 90% capacity, and continues where it left off. The mower’s cutting system uses dual mulching blades spinning at 6,000 RPM with a 16-inch (405mm) cutting width that can be adjusted between heights of 1.2 to 4 inches (30-100mm), giving you precise control over your lawn’s appearance. You can even customize the stripe angle to achieve the perfect look for your lawn.

Unlike older robotic mowers that require you to install boundary wires around your yard (a tedious weekend project in itself), the Lymow One uses its proprietary LySee Multi-Fusion Navigation System to help it create detailed maps of your property with centimeter-level precision and navigate with astonishing accuracy. By combining VSLAM with RTK satellite positioning, the navigation system ensures mowing stays uninterrupted even if there’s a temporary disruption from weather or obstacles. The mower combines this AI-powered binocular camera setup with input from five ultrasonic sensors, front bumpers, and off-ground detection mechanisms to detect obstacles, adjust for terrain changes, and optimize cutting patterns.

The companion app allows you to establish virtual boundaries, schedule mowing sessions, monitor progress in real-time, and even create custom zones with different cutting heights and stripe angles. Want your front yard cut to a pristine 1.5 inches but prefer the backyard a bit longer at 2.5 inches? A few taps in the app and it’s done. The software also provides maintenance reminders and updates itself automatically to improve performance over time.

GPS tracking means you’ll always know where your mower is located. The Lymow One includes an anti-theft system that detects motion and triggers an alarm if someone attempts to move it without authorization. Additionally, the machine is PIN-protected through the app, rendering it useless if stolen.

The Lymow One carries an IPX6 rating, meaning it can handle rainy conditions without issue. The mower is smart enough to return to its dock during heavy downpours and resume once conditions improve.

The Lymow One represents what consumer technology should be – tools that handle tedious tasks so we can focus on what matters. While AI might be writing articles elsewhere, I’d much rather have it cutting my grass, giving me back those precious weekend hours for literally anything else. Heck, the enterprising Gujarati boy I am, I’d probably get it to mow my neighborhood’s lawn too and make some extra cash on the side. The point I’m making is that AI should work for you rather than the other way around – and with the Lymow One, it certainly does.

I’ve always envied people with tattoos—the commitment, the clarity, the sheer audacity of saying, “Yes, I want this specific thing on my body forever.” Me? I panic when choosing a wallpaper for my phone. Picking one single image to define my space, let alone my skin, is a level of confidence I’ve never unlocked. Even when it comes to wall art, I freeze. I love artwork, I really do, but settling on a piece feels like choosing a tattoo. Sure it’s not permanent, but the friction of changing a wall painting is high. Find suitable artwork, print it, cut it, reframe it. Nope, I want something that’s as easy to change as your phone’s wallpaper.

That’s where BLOOMIN8 satisfies that creative itch to constantly change home artwork. BLOOMIN8 is the world’s first smart, full-color E-Ink canvas, and working like framed art but also giving you the ability to change it on a dime. The E-Ink screen feels as close to print-on-paper as possible, while letting you constantly update what it displays – from a photo of yourself or your pet, to welcome note when you have guests over for a party, to your favorite quote of the day, and finally maybe a portrait of Kier Eagan staring you down while you binge-watch Severance. The entire thing operates with a certain magic—cord-free, screen-like without feeling screen-y, and able to swap visuals as easily as you change playlists.

Designers: Francis Guo, Skyler, Chen, Piper

Click Here to Buy Now: $167 $239 ($72 off). Hurry, only 73/300 left! Raised over $940,000.

E-Ink displays have been around for a while, but they’ve mostly been limited to grayscale or muted tones (look at most Kindle tablets). BLOOMIN8 unlocks a full color spectrum, finally making digital art look like actual printed artwork. This is thanks to the Spectra 6 E-Ink display, which has a remarkable 200ppi resolution while offering a 30:1 contrast ratio (depending on panel size) that feels exactly like printed paper and not your average LCD or OLED display. It’s available in three sizes: Small (7.3”), Medium (13.3”), and Large (28.5”). No glaring backlight. No constant battery drain. Plus, the thing sips power so slowly that after a single charge, it can last 3-4 years without needing a top-up.

The frame is purposefully minimal, blending in with your home like it’s always belonged there. The bezels are purposefully white, designed to look like the passepartout or the cardboard-ish frame seen around most paintings. The frame itself is even designed to be compatible with IKEA RÖDALM frames, which contributes immensely to the overall artistic appeal of the BLOOMIN8, helping disguise the fact that it’s actually a dynamic e-ink display. Mount it anywhere, swap it out whenever, and you’re good. There’s no ugly cord dangling down the wall either—the BLOOMIN8 is completely wireless, running on a rechargeable battery that hides neatly within its frame.

Images get loaded onto the BLOOMIN8 entirely locally. There’s an SD card to let you store media that you can then display on your E-Ink canvas, but if you want app connectivity, there’s an app that lets you share images with your frame through smart-home integration. Everything happens internally, which means your images aren’t shared with BLOOMIN8’s team or even stored outside your home network. You can upload images from your gallery straight from the app, and if you do want to dabble with AI image generation, the app offers free GenAI features too, although those get created online and not on-device.

The smart home integration extends to other features too, with future updates including turning the e-display into an artistic wall widget for your weather, calendar, and to-do list notifications. RESTful APIs allow developers to build more unique interactions and features for your BLOOMIN8, so what essentially feels now like just a dynamic photo frame has the capability of being so much more.

Honestly, the whole thing feels like it taps into the same energy that’s been pushing TV makers and tech brands into the “art” space for years. Samsung’s Ambient Mode and The Frame TV both tried to blend screens into decor, and we all collectively humored the brief but chaotic moment when people proudly hung NFTs on their walls like they were fine art. The difference? BLOOMIN8 actually feels like art. It has the subtlety, the texture, and the vibe that screens can never fully fake. It looks like ink on paper, but dances to whatever tune you want—without wires, the commitment of a static piece of artwork, or a blockchain receipt.

Click Here to Buy Now: $167 $239 ($72 off). Hurry, only 73/300 left! Raised over $940,000.

Meet the Dynamic Folio – a case from the folks at MOFT that elevates your iPad. Literally. And at multiple heights and angles, that too. I saw the Dynamic Folio at CES this year and I can’t begin to tell you how much time I spent just fiddling around with the case, trying to master all its unique folding techniques. You see, I come from a time when iPad cases were pretty simple – roll the flap into a triangle and prop your iPad up, or pop a kickstand at the back and dock your iPad on a surface. The Dynamic Folio doesn’t belong to that era – it comes from a future where a case empowers an iPad while protecting it. Perhaps the only case on the market that makes your iPad hover, the Dynamic Folio goes above and beyond to make using the iPad ergonomic for creators, helping them unleash their productivity and creativity.

The Dynamic Folio is the latest from MOFT’s collection of wild origami-inspired cases, stands, and accessories. MOFT has made a name for itself with clever accessories that are as playful as they are practical. The Dynamic Folio continues that legacy, turning a simple magnetic cover into a multi-angle workstation. At first glance, it’s an unassuming slab of MOVAS (MOFT’s proprietary vegan leather alternative) wrapped around a fiberglass core. But with a few folds, it morphs into a hovering stand, an ergonomic sketching surface, or a perfectly balanced reading perch.

Designer: MOFT

Click Here to Buy Now: $34 $39 (13% off). Hurry, only 1/300 left! Raised over $173,000.

MOFT has mastered the art of functional folding. The Dynamic Folio attaches magnetically and can be manipulated into multiple positions, each designed for different use cases. There’s a low-angle 30-degree mode for sketching and note-taking (which also allows you to flip the iPad backward to face a collaborator), a 45-degree setup that works well for typing, and a full 60-degree elevation that lifts the iPad up to three inches off the desk—perfect for video calls, watching content, or using the tablet as a secondary display that’s at eye level with your desktop monitor. Unlike Apple’s Smart Folio, which offers only two static angles, MOFT’s design feels intentionally versatile, adapting to different workflows instead of forcing you to adapt to it. In true MOFT fashion, the Dynamic Folio is also lighter than Apple’s own offerings.

The Dynamic Folio’s magic lies entirely in these crease lines. They go above and beyond anything you’ve seen, giving you up to 6 ways to dock your iPad Pro for maximum efficiency… in both landscape AND portrait modes. Icons help guide you to master the multiple folding patterns. It almost feels like actually building something out of origami – you’re filled with a sense of curiosity as you use it, and its effortless folding makes it almost a fidget toy of sorts – but when you fold it to the right angle, you’re rewarded with an iPad viewing experience above any other folio case on the market.

If 6 different docking styles weren’t enough, the Dynamic Folio is also the only iPad case (to my knowledge) that lets you simultaneously dock your iPhone with your iPad Pro. A small fold creates an additional stand to magnetically attach your iPhone as a second screen, which is a thoughtful touch for anyone juggling devices. And if you’re an Apple Pencil user, MOFT even offers an optional magnetic holder to keep the stylus secured. It’s one of those small conveniences that make you wonder why Apple hasn’t built something similar into their own cases. Want to migrate from a table to working on your lap? The Dynamic Folio has a lap mode too, which is perfect for on-the-go work while you’re in an Uber or on a flight.

The case itself is built with a fiberglass core wrapped in MOVAS, MOFT’s proprietary vegan leather alternative. It’s soft, durable, and resistant to scratches—because let’s be honest, nobody wants their expensive iPad case looking like a worn-out notebook after a few weeks. The largest 13-inch version of the Dynamic Folio adds 292 grams to the iPad, while the 11-inch version is slightly lighter. It’s nowhere near as heavy as Apple’s Magic Keyboard, making it a great choice for those who want a functional stand without the bulk of a full keyboard case.

Apple’s own Smart Folio has always been the default option for those who don’t want to think too hard about accessories. It’s sleek, it’s magnetic, and it folds into a couple of basic angles. But that’s exactly the problem—it’s basic. The Dynamic Folio isn’t here to be just a cover; it’s a functional upgrade that treats the iPad like the high-powered machine it is. You don’t buy an iPad Pro to use it like a paperback book. You buy it because it’s a creative tool, a second screen, a sketchpad, and a workstation. A case should enhance those capabilities, not limit them.

The Dynamic Folio comes in 2 colors for now – a dual-tone cement + sapphire (grey and blue), or a classic jet black, and in 3 sizes – for the iPad Mini, for the 11″ iPad Pro (M4 and below) or the 13″ iPad Pro (M4 and below). The cases are also compatible with recent iPad Air models too, although you can check the link below to see if your iPad will fit into the Dynamic Folio, which ships globally as early as May 2025.

Click Here to Buy Now: $34 $39 (13% off). Hurry, only 1/300 left! Raised over $173,000.

Your Air Conditioner Is Burning Money — This Game-Changing ‘Wearable AC’ Cools You Down By 18°F

]]>

In the future, we’ll probably look back at air conditioners with humor, wondering how we managed to invent such inefficient devices. Why cool an entire room when all you really need is to feel comfortable, right? Instead of wasting all that energy dragging an entire room’s temperature down, why not just cool the human itself? This is the future I envision for humans, being able to feel cool in any room or even outdoors, thanks to the use of personal wearable ACs. Although personal ACs are still a fairly alien concept, the TORRAS Coolify Air is ten steps in the right direction.

Styled almost like a neck-pillow, but MUCH slimmer, the Coolify Air packs fans that blow wind upward and downward, cooling your face and torso. However, that isn’t all – the back of the Coolify Air houses a phase-change material that can drastically cool down (or even heat up), chilling almost like an air conditioner chills a space. Wear the device, and it instantly brings your body’s temperature down by 6-10° (10.8-18°F), making you instantly feel cooler in seconds, regardless of how hot your environment is. The blood vessels and nerves on the back of your neck are closely connected to your brain, so cooling them tricks your entire body into ‘feeling cool’ – a lifehack I believe personal ACs of the future will exploit. But for now, the TORRAS Coolify Air does a brilliant job of giving you the feeling of being in an air-conditioned room, despite being a compact, neck-worn gadget.

Designer: TORRAS

Click Here to Buy Now: $125.99 $159.99 (21% off, use coupon code “YANKO320”). Hurry, deal ends in 48-hours!

Traditional neck fans tend to be bulky, loud, and reliant on nothing but airflow, which means they struggle on truly scorching days. The Coolify Air flips the script by combining a 3D airflow design with 36 ventilation openings and cooling plates that work in tandem. Air doesn’t just blow in one direction—it circulates 360 degrees. The upward vent blows cold air to achieve facial cooling and reduce sweating, while the downward vent achieves body cooling. Three fan speeds let you dial in the right amount of airflow, so whether you need a gentle breeze or full-blast relief, it adapts to the moment. But the icing on the cake remains the ‘Cooling Triangle’ on the back of your neck.

Powered by TORRAS’s Ku 2.0 chip, this triangular patch chills your skin on contact. It works the same way high-performance gaming PCs keep themselves from overheating—by actively pulling heat away instead of just moving air around. Turn it on, and within seconds, the temperature shift is unmistakable, bringing your body temperature down by approximately 10 degrees. It feels like stepping into air conditioning without ever opening a door.

The Coolify Air isn’t limited to just cooling, though. With the tap of a button, it switches into heat mode, turning into something closer to a wearable heated scarf. Instead of just battling summer heatwaves, it becomes just as useful in the winter, warming up your neck on chilly commutes or cold office spaces. The same thermoelectric plates that cool in the summer work in reverse, generating comforting warmth in seconds. The heating feature works well after a long day at work too, relaxing the tense muscles around your neck and shoulders, while calming nerves and boosting blood circulation. Think ‘hot bubble bath’ without really setting a bath up – just switch the mode and go from cooling to heat-therapy.

Weighing in at 10 ounces (285 grams), the Coolify Air stays comfortable for long hours without feeling like a neck brace. The internal battery keeps it running for up to 24 hours when in fan mode and as long as 6 continuous hours in cooler or heat therapy mode, while USB-C fast charging ensures you’re never out of action for long. Even at maximum power, it’s far quieter than you’d expect, outputting a mere 31dB. Traditional fans tend to hum like a small jet engine, but the upgraded low-noise brushless motor keeps things impressively subtle. Conversations, phone calls, even library visits—none of them get interrupted by the sound of an overenthusiastic fan.

The shift from cooling entire spaces to cooling people directly is long overdue. Instead of blasting AC through an entire house just to make one person comfortable, this approach feels smarter, more efficient, and frankly, way cooler—both literally and figuratively. Whether battling summer heat or winter chills, the Coolify Air delivers personalized climate control in a way that feels futuristic yet surprisingly practical… and portable!

An iPad without a great case is like a sports car without tires—sleek, powerful, but not reaching its full potential. A tablet this versatile isn’t just for one thing. It’s a sketchpad in the morning, a work machine by noon, and a theater screen by night, flipping effortlessly between portrait and landscape, depending on the task. With so many ways to use it, the real challenge isn’t what the iPad can do—it’s how to support it in every scenario.

That’s where a great case makes all the difference. Not just for protection, but for unlocking the iPad’s full potential with stable docking angles that keep up with how you actually use it. ESR’s latest lineup, including the Flip and Shift Magnetic Cases, is designed with this in mind, offering flexibility that transforms the iPad into something even more capable. Sure, you could slap on any $20 silicon or polycarbonate case onto an iPad, but these cases from ESR go above and beyond, supporting your tablet through all its functions, in both landscape and portrait, and in up to 6 different angles enabling practically every activity you’d need the iPad for.

ESR Flip Magnetic Case

The newest case on the block, the ESR Flip Magnetic Case takes a straightforward approach to iPad protection while adding a level of functionality that enhances everyday use. Designed with a built-in foldable stand, it offers multiple viewing and writing angles—45° and 60° for media consumption, and a stable 25° incline for sketching or note-taking. The magnetic support stand ensures stability on any surface, so whether it’s propped up on a desk or balanced on a couch, the iPad stays secure and wobble-free.

The name Flip comes from its ability to flip between landscape and portrait modes, giving you a case that does it all, whether you want a horizontal or vertical tablet. A fold-out leg on the case’s protective flap gives you vertical docking, making it perfect for Facetime calls, browsing TikTok, or doing anything that requires propping your iPad vertically. The Flip Magnetic Case comes in two variants – with or without Apple Pencil docking (although we prefer the former). Durability isn’t compromised in either case—thanks to a PU exterior with reinforced fiberglass layers, ensuring long-lasting protection against daily wear. With support for multiple iPad models, including the iPad 10 and 11 (not the Air, Mini, or Pro variants), it’s a reliable option for those who want a case that’s both practical and stylish.

Why We Recommend It

For users who want a lightweight, travel-friendly case that keeps things simple without sacrificing functionality, the Flip Magnetic Case is a great fit. Its slim design makes it easy to carry, while the reinforced magnetic stand provides stable viewing and writing angles for everyday use. The built-in Apple Pencil slot ensures your stylus stays secure and charged, making it a convenient choice for students, casual creatives, or anyone who primarily browses, sketches, or watches content on their iPad. If portability and ease of use matter more than an extensive range of angles, the Flip is a solid choice for iPad users.

ESR Shift Magnetic Case

ESR’s Red Dot Award-winning Shift Magnetic Case takes versatility to another level, rethinking how an iPad stand should work. With six unique use modes and up to nine ultra-stable angles, it transforms the tablet into whatever you need at the moment—whether that’s a raised screen for better posture, a comfortable incline for sketching, or even a fridge-mounted display for following recipes hands-free. The dual support brackets and strong magnetic grooves ensure a wobble-free experience, no matter the setup. And when it’s time to switch gears, the detachable back case keeps the iPad protected while staying lightweight enough for easy handling.

Flexibility aside, the Shift Magnetic Case is built for practicality. Unlike rigid folio designs that lock you into limited angles, this case adapts on the fly, making it ideal for anyone who juggles work, entertainment, and creative projects. The secure magnetic attachment means snapping the iPad in and out of its stand is seamless, offering the kind of effortless usability that enhances daily productivity. With compatibility spanning multiple iPad models—including the M3 iPad Air, iPad Pro (11-inch and 13-inch), and recent iPad Air and iPad models—it’s a future-proof investment for those who rely on their tablet across different tasks and environments.

Why We Recommend It

This case stands out for anyone who values adaptability. The ability to transition between so many angles means you’re never stuck forcing your workflow around a limited stand design. If you’ve ever propped your iPad up at an awkward angle or wished for a more ergonomic setup, the Shift Case solves those problems with a design that moves with you. It’s also a solid pick for those who use their iPad in multiple spaces—whether at a desk, on a couch, or even in the kitchen. The added benefit of a detachable back case makes it even more practical, ensuring the iPad stays protected without adding unnecessary bulk when used handheld.

Have you ever noticed how smartphone manufacturers boast about their incredible camera systems, yet the front-facing cameras always seem like an afterthought? While some phones have OK front cameras, they typically come with inferior lenses, lack optical image stabilization, and offer minimal lighting assistance. Plus, the rear cameras are often 4x better in quality and performance. This creates a frustrating limitation for anyone serious about creating high-quality content on the go.

Enter MagMirror, the ingenious accessory that completely transforms how you create content with your smartphone. This innovative device allows you to harness the full potential of your phone’s superior rear cameras for self-portraits, video blogs, and live streams. By displaying your phone’s screen on a secondary monitor attached to the back, you can finally see yourself while using those premium lenses that smartphone manufacturers invest so heavily in developing.

The beauty of MagMirror lies in its thoughtful 3-in-1 design that combines functionality with portability. Using MagSafe technology, it attaches securely to the back of compatible devices with zero fuss. Whether you own the latest iPhone 15 series or an Android device (which works perfectly with the included magnetic ring attachment), MagMirror integrates seamlessly with your existing setup without requiring additional equipment or complicated mounting systems.

4 types of LED Lighting Options

Content creation often hinges on lighting, which makes MagMirror’s built-in LED frame a game-changer for mobile creators. This clever feature mimics the effect of a professional ring light, offering four distinct lighting options to match any environment or mood. Switch between crisp white light for professional looks, bright illumination for clarity in dim settings, warm tones for a flattering glow, or party mode for creative and dynamic visual effects that make your content pop.

Battery anxiety is the silent killer of creative momentum, but MagMirror has that covered too. The integrated 4,000mAh battery not only powers the device’s features but also provides wireless charging capabilities for your phone. With a 10W wireless charging option, you can extend your phone’s battery life by approximately four hours on average, even with the lights on. This means longer shooting sessions without interruptions, whether you’re capturing a special event or creating content throughout a busy day.

Professional-quality content creation typically demands significant investment in equipment, but MagMirror challenges this assumption by consolidating multiple tools into one affordable package. Rather than purchasing a separate camera, lighting setup, monitor, and power bank, this single device delivers comparable functionality at a fraction of the cost. And using MagMirror couldn’t be easier! Just stick it to the back of your phone, connect the USB cable, and you’re good to go. Suddenly, professional-grade content becomes accessible without breaking the bank.

The shift from amateur to professional content creator often seems daunting, but sometimes it’s simply about having the right tools. MagMirror bridges this gap by addressing the technical limitations that prevent smartphone users from maximizing their device’s potential. Grainy selfies and low-resolution video logs become relics of the past when you can utilize your phone’s primary camera system with confidence and control. The ability to see yourself while filming creates opportunities for precise framing and composition that were previously impossible.

I love it when a designer stops taking something for granted. A chair doesn’t HAVE to have four static legs. It could use three, maybe five, maybe ten. Maybe the legs could bend and fold. Similarly, a wine glass is almost an institution at this point – taken for granted to a point where nobody’s ever thought of changing it, apart from slightly modifying its shape. Italy-based Trebonn decided to give the wine glass its most radical change ever – by making the stem of the glass removable, replaceable, and magnetic.
Created by a trio of a father and his two sons, Trebonn’s ‘Splitglass’ is a unique take on wine glasses that’s quirky, modular, and dares to be different in a sea of boring-looking glasses. Each glass comes with the cup itself, and a stem that attaches to its base via powerful magnets. This unique approach achieves 3 things – it gives you the ability to easily store/wash/maintain your glasses without them occupying too much space in the dishwasher or cabinet, it turns your glass into modular drinkware that lets you swap the cup on top for three options – wide, normal, and flute (for red, white, and sparkling wine), and finally, it extends the modularity to the base too, allowing you to customize the opaque stem by choosing a color that fits the mood/decor.

Designer: Hector Serrano (Trebonn)

Click Here to Buy Now: $48 $59 (20% off). Hurry, only a few left!

A wine glass is a prime example of form following function. The size of the cup and its rim are directly proportional to how much aeration the wine requires and how much aroma plays a part in the drinking experience. The stem, on the other hand, helps give elegance to the glass while allowing you to hold it in a way that prevents your hand’s warmth from affecting the wine inside. It’s perfect in every way, except it’s pretty unstable, and it’s difficult to store or maintain. The Splitglass changes that.

The Splitglass retains everything that’s great about wine glasses, but brings an element of fun and utility to the design. As its name suggests, the glass splits into two, with the stem and cup being two independent units that can be joined using a powerful magnet. The reason is equal parts convenience, and fun. Each Splitglass comes with the option of multiple cup shapes, and multiple stem colors, allowing you to efficiently store them when not in use, and mix-and-match them when you need to break out the crystalware.

The cups are made of lead-free crystal glass – they’re thin, as you expect crystal drinkware to be, giving the drinkware an elevated experience. You can get them in three shapes – a big one for red wine, a smaller one for white wine, and a slim and tall highball cup for sparkling wine. The Splitglass set allows you to practically own three different types of glasses simply by owning the three cups and one stem, allowing you to snap them on just before pouring yourself a drink, or even using the cups independently given that their flat bases allow you to sit them on tabletops without having them tip over.

The stems come with an opaque, colorful design, adding a pop to your tabletop. You can get them in as many as 4 colors, which means you can either theme the glassware to your decor, match the color of your drink, or even color-code them so you know which glass belongs to which guest. It’s a uniquely joyful approach that traditional glasses don’t consider, making the Splitglass both fun as well as functional.

Finally, the modular design makes storage and even washing up extremely easy. The glass height gets cut in half, thanks to the removable stems, allowing you to store them in tighter shelves without worrying about vertical clearance. Keep the stems inside the glass when not in use, or stow them away separately. Washing the glasses is easier too, since the detachable stem makes it easy to place the cups in a dishwasher. You don’t have to be delicate or careful of knocking over anything or accidentally breaking something too, since the stem doesn’t get in the way while you load or unload the dishwashwer.

A 2-person set of Splitglasses starts at €44 EUR ($48 USD), and you can choose which cup design you want – red, white, or highball. Alternatively, if you want the complete set with all three cup designs, it starts at €80 EUR ($86 USD) for a two-person set. The Splitglasses are designed and made in Italy, and ship globally starting May 2025.

Here’s a question I often ask myself. We had a solid decade where fingerprints were the standard of unlocking devices. You’ll find fingerprint readers on phones and laptops even today, although facial recognition has pretty much replaced the tech as its cutting-edge successor… but what’s next? Fingerprints can be faked, facial recognition has a pretty high error rate, so how do we authenticate identities now? Turns out, the future lies in the palms of our hands… literally! The folks at Lockin have developed a technology that’s fairly foolproof, and difficult to spoof – the Lockin Veno Pro is, to my knowledge, the first video smart-lock capable of not just scanning faces, but scanning palms too. The cutting-edge technology scans the shape of the veins underneath your palms, creating a signature ‘veinprint’ that is unique to you.

The tech works simply by holding your palm up to the camera. Instead of relying on external identifiers like fingerprints or faces, the camera scans the unique pattern of veins inside your hand, offering a level of security and reliability that traditional biometric systems can’t match. It’s fast, clean, and works with all sorts of palms, no matter how dry, wet, dirty, or wrinkly they are.

Designer: Lockin

Click Here to Buy Now: $185 $379.99 (51% off). Hurry, exclusive deal for YD readers!

The very highlight of the Veno Pro is Lockin’s Venokey™ technology, which uses near-infrared light to map the vein patterns inside your palm. Unlike fingerprints, which leave traces on surfaces, vein patterns are internal and invisible, making them far harder to replicate. This is the same technology used in banking and government security systems, adapted for home use. The result is a biometric lock that’s resistant to spoofing, works in total darkness, and operates at 99.9% accuracy. With a recognition speed of 0.17 seconds, it’s as fast as Face ID but without the drawbacks of ambient lighting or angle restrictions. A simple wave of the hand is all it takes to unlock the door.

Palm scanning aside, the door lock still sports a 2K AI-powered camera with a 180° panoramic view that automatically detects and records motion near your door. The camera’s AI distinguishes between people, packages, and animals, sending specific notifications based on what it sees. 32GB of local storage means nothing is shared with the cloud. You’ve got no subscription fees or hidden costs, and even the companion app that lets you monitor your doorway is free to use.

Setting up the Veno Pro requires minimal technical knowledge, as the device fits seamlessly into most deadbolt lock setups. The installation process typically takes under 15 minutes, with clear instructions provided through the companion app. The app itself offers an intuitive interface for managing access permissions, viewing door activity logs, and customizing notification preferences. Users can grant temporary access to visitors, service providers, or Airbnb guests, with specific time restrictions if desired. For family members uncomfortable with palm vein technology, the Veno Pro offers alternative access methods including PIN codes, NFC cards, and traditional keys as backups.

Once installed, the Veno Pro integrates seamlessly into your smart home setup with support for ecosystems including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. This allows users to incorporate the lock into automated routines, such as unlocking the door when arriving home or checking lock status via voice commands. The weatherproof design (IP65-rated) ensures reliable operation in rain, snow, and extreme temperatures, making it suitable for various climates.

The lock also incorporates a solar-rechargeable power system, eliminating the need to replace batteries. Even in locations with limited sunlight, the efficient power management system ensures months of operation between charges. Alternatively, juice it via a power bank or power station to give the Veno Pro up to 3 months of use on a single charge.

All biometric data is stored locally rather than in the cloud, eliminating concerns about data breaches. Communication between the lock and connected devices is secured with bank-grade encryption, ensuring that remote access features don’t become an entry point for hackers. Backup unlock methods, including emergency passcodes and a hidden mechanical key, provide redundancy in case of unexpected failures. The physical construction incorporates anti-tampering mechanisms that trigger alarms if someone attempts to force the lock. If your phone is lost or stolen, you can immediately revoke its access through a web portal. The palm vein data never leaves the device—unlike cloud-based systems where biometric information might be vulnerable to data breaches.

Lockin displayed their palm-vein scanning technology at CES this year, with the Veno Pro being the latest smart door lock to highlight this rather novel technology. Locks should be fast, reliable, and resistant to tampering, and the Veno Pro checks every box. The convenience of touchless unlocking paired with enterprise-level security makes it an exciting step forward in smart home technology. Who knew that the future of smart home security lay in our hands all along!?

The Lockin Veno Pro starts at $185, with global shipping starting March 2025. Each kit ships wth the Veno’s inner and outer panel, the deadbolt, a battery unit, two backup keys for manual unlocking, and the hardware needed to attach the Veno Pro to your door.

A passport holder might seem like a simple object—an accessory designed to keep essentials in place—but when design is approached with intention, even the smallest details carry meaning. The Belmont Vegan Leather Passport Holder reflects that philosophy, balancing form and function with a thoughtful approach to everyday travel. Behind its creation are two women whose influence extends beyond design itself—Gladys Phan, Senior Product Designer, and Krystle Koo, Brand Strategist. Together, they shape not just the physical product, but the entire experience surrounding it. On International Women’s Day, we take a deep dive into how they brought their unique perspectives together to create the Belmont Passport Holder.

Gladys understands that good design can’t be limited to merely aesthetics—it’s about how it works in real life. With the Belmont, she focuses on practicality without sacrificing aesthetics, ensuring that every detail serves a purpose. The structured compartments provide easy access to travel documents, while the vegan leather adds durability and a refined feel. Every stitch, pocket, and fold is thoughtfully designed for a product that feels as intuitive as it looks refined. Nothing is included without reason, and that level of precision is what sets her work apart.

Gladys Phan and Krystle Koo

Krystle’s role builds on that foundation, ensuring that the Belmont isn’t just a one-off SKU but part of a larger story. Travel is about movement, identity, and the objects we take with us along the way. She shapes the way the passport holder connects with people, emphasizing values like conscious craftsmanship and intentional design. The product exists not in isolation but as an extension of a broader vision, where utility and meaning are intertwined. The messaging, branding, and identity surrounding the Belmont carry the same level of care as its physical design, creating a cohesive experience from start to finish.

Gladys and Krystle’s collaboration brings together two distinct but deeply connected skill sets—one shaping the physical product, the other defining its meaning in the world. Gladys’ design decisions weren’t made in isolation; they were informed by the broader narrative Krystle was crafting. The intuitive layout of the passport holder wasn’t just about storage—it was about anticipating how travelers move, how they reach for documents in transit, how an item can become second nature in their hands. Krystle’s strategic insight ensured that these choices weren’t just functional but aligned with a vision of purposeful, conscious design. Their process wasn’t linear—ideas moved back and forth, evolving with each refinement, proving that when women collaborate, the result reflects that through a combined experience shaped by lived understanding and intention.

The result is a passport holder that feels effortless to use, yet carries layers of thoughtfulness beneath its surface. Its minimalist design is intentional, removing clutter while ensuring that the essentials are exactly where they need to be. Vegan leather was chosen not just for its ethical considerations, but for its tactile quality and durability. Even the stitching speaks to longevity, reinforcing the idea that well-designed objects should withstand time and use.

Beyond the product itself, this campaign highlights the broader impact of women in design. Their contributions extend across disciplines, shaping not only what we use but how we engage with the world around us. Gladys and Krystle’s work demonstrates that design is broadly about problem-solving, storytelling, and creating products that seamlessly fit into everyday life. The Belmont Passport Holder embodies that philosophy, proving that when design is approached with intention, even the smallest objects carry significance.
