Tired of Packing And Unpacking? This Game-Changing Suitcase Transforms Into a Wardrobe

Most suitcases force you to unpack the moment you arrive, spreading clothes across the floor, digging for that one shirt, trying to stay organized in a temporary space that barely accommodates you, leave alone your wardrobe. Drobe solves this problem by becoming your wardrobe. It doesn’t sit flat, doesn’t open in a clamshell format, and doesn’t house all your belongings in a haphazard manner. It’s haute, travel-friendly furniture that moves. The Drobe has the soul of a wardrobe in the body of a travel case, making it truly the most game-changing design the travel industry is about to experience.

A spin on the word ‘wardrobe’, the Drobe is basically a cupboard designed for travel. It’s compact, expandable, portable, modular, and TSA-friendly. When shut, it looks exactly like a travel case, complete with wheels, handle, and a metal shell. Expand it, however, and it splits apart into pieces, turning into a full-fledged wardrobe complete with 3 compartments and a hanging rod for your clothes. It somehow feels radically innovative and familiar at the same time, the kind you look at and wonder why nobody thought about it before. The best part? Never needing to unpack, because the Drobe becomes your wardrobe, whether at home or while on a trip.

Designer: Drobe

Most travel cases are designed to open like a clamshell – a format that I can only assume one person designed and everyone else just blindly copied. What the Drobe showcases is entirely different. Instead of laying your travel case down flat and opening it like a massive book, the Drobe can be opened while it stands vertically. The handle slides upwards, becoming a linear rail system that allows the suitcase to expand vertically. Each compartment slides upwards, turning into a ‘shelf’ of your wardrobe that you can access without really needing to hunch over. The top of the handle works like a clothes rod, allowing users to hang clothes wardrobe-style, while an easy-access compartment on the top of the Drobe includes a fold-out mirror, turning your travel case into an impromptu dressing table.

To use the Drobe, simply disengage the handle lock and lift it up. The handle telescopes upwards, also lifting the Drobe’s compartments with it. You suddenly go from a compact flight-friendly suitcase to a three-part wardrobe that you can access comfortably. The upper section has a quick-access lid that also packs the aforementioned mirror (a brilliant touch if you ask me), while the lower sections can be used to segregate other items like innerwear, shoes, dirty laundry, basically stuff you don’t need to access immediately. The handle on top now also doubles as a clothes rod, allowing you to hang actively worn items like suits, jackets, shirts, dresses, or anything you don’t want to fold or put away.

Manufactured in Norway and already awarded by the European Product Design Awards and the New York Product Design Awards, Drobe is built unlike anything else on the market. Every part of the suitcase is made using 100 percent pure, high-quality materials to last – but built for change. The entire body, from the outer shell to the smallest internal component, can be replaced or repaired. And when you’re ready for a new style or need to refresh old parts, they can be easily swapped or sent back to be recycled into the next generation of Drobe.

Not only is this modularity and repairability a first for travel cases, but it also brings a level of modularity to your luggage, giving you the ability to repair/upgrade your mobile wardrobe. The outer panels come in a variety of colors, allowing you to choose a Drobe that fits your profile and character. And as far as durability goes, the outer metal shell absorbs impact extremely well, ensuring that your portable wardrobe is truly travel-friendly.

The Drobe builds on the best parts of European-led design. Scandinavian sensibilities with its take on minimalism and modularity, Italian materials designed to compete with leading fashion labels, and Norwegian engineering, making the luggage feel familiar yet still be radically different from anything you’ve ever seen. Pure aluminum. Clean, fully recyclable HDPE plastic for strength without weight. Swedish leather handles and interiors that develop a soft, rich patina over time. The regular trims of a travel case still exist – the caster wheels, the TSA-friendly lock, the wide telescoping handle that lets you maneuver your case across any airport. Open it, however, and you’re bound to get a bunch of awestruck stares, and even a few “where did you get this from”s.

Beyond its role as luggage, Drobe honestly serves as adaptable furniture. You don’t specifically need to use it for clothes or travel – it can double as a mobile bookcase, a stylish bar unit, or an extension of your closet, seamlessly integrating into various living spaces. This versatility makes it particularly suitable for small apartments or temporary accommodations, offering practical and flexible storage options.

This makes the Drobe just perfect for pretty much anyone who prefers a level of compactness and mobility in life. You could be living in a small rented apartment without a wardrobe, you could be fairly nomadic, wanting to move places and have a non-tethered lifestyle, you could just love the idea of a suitcase serving as a chest of drawers, or you could be Drobe’s most common audience – someone who hates packing and unpacking.

The approach of turning a suitcase into a mobile wardrobe is surely new, but the overall need isn’t. We’ve seen plenty of suitcases approach the idea of organized or modular storage, separating your clothes from your shoes, and your gadgets from your toiletry – but the Drobe fundamentally rethinks the travel case, turning it into a mobile replica of existing furniture – the wardrobe. The design bridges those two worlds better than anything I’ve ever seen before – and the fact that it’s repairable and modular just becomes the icing on this cake.

Click Here to Reserve Now: $2.20 only! Exclusively for $465 $775 (40% off). Hurry, sign up and get free wheels worth $55 and customise your Drobe using the online configurator.

Probably one of the most iconic American-made cars is the Ford Mustang, specifically the original Rangoon Red paintwork that they used when they launched back in 1964. There have been a lot of versions of this landmark car over the years but this original one holds a special place in hearts of car enthusiast and collectors. To celebrate six decades of this car, Ford is releasing something a bit out of the ordinary, at least for their car product line.

Designer: Ford

Instead of releasing a special edition car to celebrate the Mustang’s 60th anniversary, they are instead releasing the Mustang eBike – 60th Anniversary Edition, a sleek and powerful ride that aims to capture the spirit of the legendary pony car on two wheels. The limited-edition eBike is a a fusion of automotive heritage and cutting-edge electric technology and it comes in the iconic Rangoon Red paintwork as well as period-correct badges and decals direct from their archives. It even comes with a 60th anniversary plaque, although this one you probably won’t carry on your ebike.

Just like its four-wheeled namesake, the Mustang eBike packs a punch. Nestled within its frame is a robust 750W rear-wheel hub motor that delivers an impressive 63 lb-ft (85 Nm) of torque. This power translates to exhilarating acceleration and a top assisted speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), allowing riders to effortlessly cruise through city streets or conquer challenging inclines. Ford hasn’t skimped on efficiency either. A high-capacity 720Wh battery provides a generous range of up to 60 miles (96 km) on a single charge, making it ideal for both daily commutes and leisurely explorations. And when it’s time to recharge, the system only takes 3.5 hours to reach full capacity. The eBike offers four distinct power modes, allowing riders to tailor the level of assistance to their needs and conserve battery life when desired.

The eBike is equipped with high-quality components to ensure a smooth and reliable ride. Tektro four-piston hydraulic disc brakes with substantial 203mm rotors provide confident and responsive stopping power. A well-engineered suspension system soaks up bumps and vibrations, enhancing rider comfort. Furthermore, the Pirelli Angel GT semi-slick tires ensure excellent grip and handling on paved surfaces, mirroring the Mustang’s road-hugging capabilities. The connection to the Mustang legacy goes beyond just the name and performance. The eBike features a full-color LCD display that draws inspiration from the Mustang’s driver interface. This intuitive display provides riders with real-time information on crucial metrics such as speed, battery life, and remaining range. The Ford Mustang eBike – 60th Anniversary Edition represents an exciting new chapter for the legendary brand. It successfully blends the thrill and spirit of the Mustang with the practicality and sustainability of electric bicycles. Whether you’re a long-time Mustang fan looking for a unique way to celebrate its history, or simply seeking a high-performance and stylish eBike, this limited-edition model is sure to turn heads and provide an exhilarating ride.

The past years we’ve seen more and more pet owners who are very vocal about the needs of their fur babies. These pets are considered already part of their families rather than just something they play around with every once in a while. And so when they move around, they also want to have their pets with them. So there’s a need for safe, secure, and comfortable pet carriers for when you’re moving around the city for work or for errands.

Designer: Bo Wei Zeng

Addressing this particular need of modern pet owners requires a mix of functionality, aesthetic, and more importantly, a deep understanding of the human-animal bond. Petro is a concept for an integrated system that can cater to the pet’s comfort and the owner’s lifestyle. The scooter-type vehicle lets you bring your pet on short to medium distance trips and lets you integrate it whether you’re traveling by trains, subways, or other public transportation, letting you switch from riding to walking mode.

Central to the Petro system’s appeal is the cleverly designed pet basket, the core component ensuring the comfort and safety of your cherished companion during transit. This pod isn’t just a container; it’s envisioned as a secure sanctuary on the move. It features a robust mechanism allowing it to be securely docked onto the scooter’s frame, providing stability and peace of mind while navigating city streets. When it’s time to transition from riding to walking – perhaps entering a building, boarding public transport, or simply reaching a destination – the basket is designed for effortless removal, likely via a quick-release system, transforming instantly into a portable carrier. This seamless transition is key to its practicality. Furthermore, its utility extends beyond travel. Upon returning home, this same familiar pod can serve as your pet’s regular resting space or den. This dual function is ingenious, leveraging the power of familiarity to potentially reduce travel-related stress, as the carrier itself becomes associated with the security and comfort of home.

In essence, this concept moves beyond simple pet accessories. It envisions a truly integrated lifestyle where pets are not an afterthought in urban mobility but a central part of the journey. By combining personal transport with a secure, comfortable, and multi-functional pet pod, Petro offers a glimpse into a future where the bond between owners and their furry family members is supported by thoughtful, practical design, making every errand or commute an opportunity for shared experience.

Rimowa Revives Colorful 1988 “Holiday Hand-Carry Case” for 2025 https://www.yankodesign.com/2025/03/31/rimowa-revives-colorful-1988-holiday-hand-carry-case-for-2025/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rimowa-revives-colorful-1988-holiday-hand-carry-case-for-2025 Mon, 31 Mar 2025 14:20:42 +0000 https://www.yankodesign.com/?p=543367

There’s something undeniably captivating about a Rimowa suitcase. Even for someone like me, who generally steers clear of luxury goods, especially when it comes to bags, a glimpse of that grooved aluminum or the sleek polycarbonate is enough to make me pause. Maybe it’s the classic, almost industrial aesthetic, or perhaps it’s the stories whispered by friends who swear by their Rimowa’s resilience through countless journeys.

While the price tag often keeps these coveted pieces at arm’s length, a little window shopping never truly hurts, does it? And Rimowa’s latest announcement? Well, it’s a pleasant (and perhaps slightly tempting) dip into nostalgia.

Designer: Rimowa

Their 1988 suitcase design is getting a 2025 upgrade with the “Holiday Hand-Carry Case”. Originally aimed at a younger audience, this suitcase stood out for its minimalist aesthetic and bold color choices. Now, Rimowa is bringing back this retro charm with a limited-edition release that blends vintage style with modern functionality.

The reissued cases are available in striking fire-engine red, sunshine yellow, and cobalt blue, all accented with crisp white details. These bold hues are sharply contrasted with clean white accents, giving the cases a fresh yet undeniably retro feel. It’s the kind of luggage that doesn’t just carry your belongings; it makes a statement.

Staying true to Rimowa’s commitment to quality, these cases are built to last. They feature a lightweight yet sturdy polycarbonate shell, an anodized aluminum frame for added durability, reinforced corners to withstand the rigors of travel, and TSA-compliant locks for enhanced security.

Inside, the “Holiday Hand-Carry Case” offers a surprisingly practical layout. A mesh divider on one side helps to neatly separate your belongings, while adjustable compression straps on the other work to keep everything securely in place, preventing shifting during your travels. It’s a thoughtful balance of the streamlined exterior and organized interior.

Now, it’s important to note the “Hand-Carry” in the name is quite literal. This isn’t a roll-aboard suitcase; it doesn’t feature any wheels. However, recognizing the need for versatility, Rimowa has included a detachable luggage strap. This allows you to sling the case comfortably over your shoulder, offering a different way to navigate your journey, especially when your hands are full. Priced at $1,200, this limited-edition release offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of Rimowa’s history, reimagined for the modern traveler. It’s a stylish and functional way to make a statement on your next journey.

Electric skateboards have revolutionized urban transportation, but most boards on the market struggle to balance performance with portability. Enter the Parsec Aero Pro, a cutting-edge electric skateboard that’s turning heads with its futuristic design and exceptional engineering. Combining aerospace-grade materials with innovative technology, this lightweight powerhouse delivers thrilling speeds, impressive range, and unmatched durability for riders who demand the best from their boards.

The heart of the Aero Pro’s extraordinary performance lies in its thoughtful design choices that prioritize the real needs of everyday riders. Unlike bulky competitors that sacrifice portability for power, this sleek board weighs just 15.5 pounds in its standard configuration, making it genuinely portable for commuters navigating public transit, office buildings, and urban environments. Despite its featherweight construction, the Aero Pro doesn’t compromise on performance, offering riders a truly premium experience from the moment they step on the deck.

Designer: Parsec

Built around a T800 carbon fiber deck, the Aero Pro showcases materials typically reserved for high-performance aircraft and supercars. This premium carbon fiber isn’t just lightweight – it’s incredibly strong, capable of withstanding nearly 1,750 pounds of force without breaking. The low deck height of just 3.35 inches creates a stable platform that feels secure underfoot while maintaining the responsive handling that experienced riders crave when carving through city streets or cruising along beachfront paths.

Dual Hobbywing 5250 motors mounted at the rear wheels deliver impressive acceleration and a top speed of 27 mph, providing plenty of power for conquering hills and keeping pace with urban traffic. The custom-designed aluminum trucks complement this power with precise handling characteristics, striking the perfect balance between stability at speed and maneuverability in tight spaces. This combination makes the Aero Pro equally comfortable bombing down straightaways and navigating crowded sidewalks with confidence.

Battery options provide flexibility based on your typical riding needs, with the Aero Pro S featuring a 222-Wh Molicel P45B battery delivering a respectable 14-mile range for shorter commutes. For riders needing extended range, the Aero Pro X doubles the capacity with a 444-Wh battery that stretches the riding distance to an impressive 32 miles, enough for a full day of adventures without recharging. Both models benefit from regenerative braking that recaptures energy when slowing down, maximizing efficiency during stop-and-go urban riding.

The innovative EPIC belt-drive system represents a significant advancement over traditional electric skateboard drivetrains. This system ensures smooth acceleration while also allowing for easy coasting when you want to ride unpowered. Perhaps most impressively, the belts can be replaced in just 15 seconds without tools a game-changer for riders who’ve struggled with maintenance on other electric boards. This hybrid approach gives riders the freedom to switch between powered and manual riding depending on their mood or battery status.

Thoughtful design touches enhance the everyday usability of the Aero Pro beyond its core performance specs. The integrated handle makes carrying the board effortless, while the easy-access charging port simplifies the recharging process. The motor mount even helps prop up the board when you need to set it down temporarily. These small but significant features demonstrate the designers’ understanding of how people actually use their boards in real-world situations, not just during perfect riding conditions.

The Parsec Aero Pro represents a quantum leap in electric skateboard evolution, fusing aerospace-grade materials with street-smart design. Its unmatched strength-to-weight ratio, customizable performance, and rider-focused features create an experience that feels revolutionary with every ride. Whether carving through urban landscapes or commuting across campus, this board delivers exceptional performance without sacrificing portability. The Aero Pro isn’t just pushing boundaries, it’s completely redrawing the map for what electric skateboards can achieve.

River-Inspired Interior Gives a Train a Softer and Gentler Character

]]>

The thundering approach of a high-speed train typically conjures images of sleek metal, industrial power, and mechanical precision—a marvel of engineering that seems worlds apart from nature’s gentle rhythms. Yet beneath this technological exterior lies an unexpected parallel: like a river carving its path through the landscape, trains flow along their predetermined routes with a similar sense of purpose and grace. This poetic connection between mechanical transport and natural waterways has inspired a breathtaking reimagining of France’s iconic TGV high-speed rail service.

The TGV Inoui’s fifth-generation interior design embraces this surprising kinship between train and river, transforming the passenger experience through thoughtful elements that evoke water’s soothing qualities. Launched after a comprehensive design project that began in 2016, this revolutionary approach challenges our expectations of train travel, replacing clinical efficiency with organic warmth and industrial hardness with inviting softness. The result is a traveling environment that feels less like transportation and more like a gentle journey through flowing spaces.

Designers: Nendo, AREP

Stepping aboard the redesigned carriages reveals an immediate sense of serenity, with a fluid horizon line that extends throughout the interior, creating visual continuity that mimics the surface of water. This horizontal element serves multiple purposes—establishing perspective, orienting passengers within the space, and subtly reinforcing the river concept without resorting to obvious thematic elements. The effect feels natural rather than forced, a sophisticated interpretation rather than a literal translation.

The seating arrangements draw inspiration from smooth river pebbles, with rounded forms that have been shaped by imaginary currents over time. These organic contours replace the rigid geometries typically found in train interiors, offering passengers embracing comfort that seems to cradle the body. The tactile upholstery further enhances this sensation, with textures and colors that evoke the tranquil depths of flowing water, creating a multisensory experience that transcends mere transportation.

Perhaps the most delightful expressions of the river theme appear in the lighting elements, where playful lamp designs capture the bubbly, effervescent quality of water’s surface. These luminous accents provide both practical illumination and whimsical visual interest, punctuating the serene environment with moments of joy. The interplay between these vibrant details and the overall calm atmosphere creates a balanced environment that feels simultaneously energizing and relaxing.

Traveling at speeds exceeding 350 kilometers per hour, passengers experience a curious paradox: extreme velocity wrapped in exceptional comfort. The environmental considerations embedded in the design enhance this sense of mindful travel, with 97% recyclable materials and light-colored exteriors that improve albedo and reduce energy consumption during summer months. These sustainable elements align perfectly with the river concept, honoring natural systems while embracing technological advancement.

The redesigned TGV Inoui represents a fundamental shift in how we perceive train interiors, moving away from purely functional spaces toward environments that prioritize human comfort and emotional well-being. By softening the industrial character of high-speed rail travel through nature-inspired design, the project creates what the designers call “a more personal bubble of comfort in a shared space.” This transformation acknowledges that transportation isn’t merely about moving from point A to point B—it’s about the quality of the journey itself.

5. The Taco Device

Navigating language barriers is one of the most challenging aspects of traveling abroad. The Taco Device offers a creative solution by combining fun with functionality, allowing travelers to communicate with ease. Inspired by the playful metaphor “Let’s taco ’bout it,” this device is shaped like a taco and is designed for interactive, two-way communication.

When it’s time to use the device, you simply “cut” it in half, providing one half to the person you’re conversing with. Japanese minimalist brand Muji has answered the prayers of design enthusiasts worldwide with the revival of its coveted aluminum hard carry case. First launched in 2017 to critical acclaim, this masterpiece of functional design is making a triumphant return to the market with a striking addition – an elegant matte black finish that has already captured the attention of travelers and collectors alike.

The reintroduction comes directly in response to persistent customer demand for the original aluminum suitcase designed by renowned product designer Naoto Fukasawa. Known for his “without thought” design philosophy that emphasizes intuitive functionality, Fukasawa’s influence is evident in every aspect of this suitcase. The clean lines, thoughtful proportions, and meticulous attention to detail reflect the designer’s commitment to creating objects that seamlessly integrate into our lives while elevating everyday experiences through subtle refinement.

Designer: Muji

Available in two practical sizes – a compact 34-liter option perfect for weekend getaways and a spacious 60-liter version ideal for longer journeys – these suitcases offer versatility without compromising on style. The dual-wheel caster system ensures remarkably smooth movement across various surfaces, while the integrated braking mechanism provides stability when needed. This thoughtful engineering demonstrates Muji’s understanding that true luxury lies not just in aesthetics but in how an object performs during real-world use.

What truly distinguishes this aluminum luggage is its embrace of wabi-sabi principles – the Japanese concept that finds beauty in imperfection and transience. Unlike typical hard-shell suitcases that look worn and damaged after acquiring scratches, each dent and mark becomes part of the suitcase’s evolving character. It tells the story of your travels and creates a deeply personal object that grows more distinctive with each journey.

The monochromatic color scheme extends beyond mere aesthetics to create a cohesive visual experience. Both the body and telescopic handle share identical coloration, reinforcing the minimalist impression that has become Muji’s signature. This consistency in design language speaks to the brand’s unwavering commitment to simplicity and harmony, principles that have earned Muji its devoted following among design-conscious consumers who appreciate understated elegance over ostentatious branding.

Inside the suitcase, practicality reigns supreme with a three-stage telescopic handle that adjusts to various heights, accommodating travelers of different statures. Security concerns are addressed through the integration of TSA-approved locks, allowing for peace of mind without sacrificing convenience during international travel. These thoughtful interior features demonstrate that Muji’s commitment to functionality extends throughout the entire product.

Currently, the coveted black edition is exclusive to the Japanese market, reflecting Muji’s strategy of regional product differentiation. Priced between ¥79,000 and ¥99,000 (approximately $533-$668 USD), these suitcases represent a significant investment. However, devotees of exceptional design recognize the value proposition – a timeless object that combines durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal in equal measure.

When you envision the future, you probably think of hovercrafts, flying cars, and all the other flying things we’ve seen on The Jetsons and other sci-fi movies and TV shows. But one thing that I randomly think about is what if you needed to transport more people and more cargo? Then you probably still get stuck with airplanes and cargo planes like what we already currently have. But have we ever thought of using blimps and balloons? Apparently, people already have.

Designer: AT2 Aerospace

The AT2 Aerospace Z1 airship is a groundbreaking hybrid aircraft designed for efficient transport to remote locations. Combining hydrogen-powered thrust vectoring and helium buoyancy, the Z1 can efficiently carry people and goods over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) per trip. Originally a Lockheed Martin project, the Z1 was acquired by AT2 Aerospace, led by Dr. Bob Boyd. Its unique tri-lobe design maximizes lift, with 80% derived from helium and 20% from thrust. The central lobe houses cargo and a 19-passenger gondola, while the lower side lobes feature the Air Cushion Landing System. This system allows the airship to land on virtually any surface, including snow, ice, water, sand, and fields, eliminating the need for traditional transportation infrastructure. The underside fan system can also run in reverse to suck the Z1 to the ground after it’s landed, adding stability when unloading passengers and cargo. It is designed to fly up to 1,400 nautical miles (2,593 km) on a single filling of compressed hydrogen and carry a payload of more than 23 tons (20.8 tonnes).

The Z1 promises to significantly reduce cargo transport costs, potentially by 15-40% compared to traditional fixed-wing aircraft per ton/mile. Potential applications include bringing supplies and materials back and forth to remote sites like Arctic mines and oil and gas operations. With recent purchase orders from Straightline Aviation and Arctic Airships, the AT2 Aerospace Z1 airship appears to be on track for further development and launch. This heralds a potential shift in how we approach transportation, especially in challenging environments. The Z1 isn’t just a nostalgic nod to airships of the past; it represents a sophisticated fusion of cutting-edge technology and practical engineering. Its ability to operate independently of traditional runways, coupled with its substantial payload capacity and reduced operational costs, positions it as a game-changer.

Imagine a future where remote communities are seamlessly connected, where disaster relief efforts are expedited, and where industrial operations in harsh environments are made significantly more efficient. The AT2 Aerospace Z1 airship offers a glimpse into that future, demonstrating that sometimes, the most innovative solutions come from reimagining established concepts. By blending the timeless principles of buoyancy with modern propulsion and materials, the Z1 is poised to redefine our expectations of air travel and cargo transport, proving that the future of flight might just be a little lighter than we thought. It’s a reminder that even in an age of rapid technological advancement, there’s still room for the elegant and efficient simplicity of the airship, reimagined for the 21st century.

Conservatively speaking, off-grid and electric-enabled adventures are the future of the recreational vehicle industry. Airstream understands this space better than any other travel trailer manufacturer. It has consistently been ahead of the curve, leading the way with its trailer-based, self-contained aluminum RVs. To keep up with the shifting demand, Airstream is debuting its first all-electric trailer camper, the Basecamp 20Xe: 20 indicating its 20-foot floor plan.

Perhaps a compact home on wheels, the Airstream Basecamp Xe (as the company prefers to call it) is tailor-made for both off-grid exploration and traditional campground camping. Built on a single-axle trailer, it can be towed by any compact or mid-sized SUV and offers two living spaces, a spacious kitchen, and a wet bath. I’m surprised by the number of amenities packed into the Basecamp Xe’s compact frame.

Designer: Airstream

Airstream has been innovative and ahead in the race of firsts in the RV ecosystem, and the Basecamp Xe is a fine embodiment. It precisely measures 20.2 ft long and 7 ft 9.5 inches in width. It has a 6 ft 7 inches standing height inside, which makes the towable pretty roomy to move around from the kitchen to the bathroom and then into the bed. The space inside is consciously designed and the amenities are adjusted with off-grid adventurers and EV campers in mind.

Embedded solar and electrical systems render self-sufficiency to the Basecamp Xe, which can be accessed by the regular side or the glass rear door. The layout finds the convertible dinette on the one end, while the primary sleeping area on the other. The configuration easily allows up to four people to sleep comfortably. Usually for so many people out on a long weekend can feel stuffy and sometimes inconvenient without the lack of a wet bath. The Basecamp Xe addresses the concerns with eight windows and skylights, and a bathroom stocked with a shower, sink, and toilet (composting toilet is a providable option).

Coming to the interesting designed spacious kitchen in the middle of the travel trailer. It features a nice long countertop with an induction cooktop and a functional sink. Other appliances include a refrigerator, hot water heater, and a furnace powered by a 20-pound propane tank that also facilitates outdoor grilling sessions. Of course, this and onboard electrical and solar systems offer off-grid autonomy to the Basecamp that is also meant to go off-roading a little with a 3-inch factory lift kit, and all-terrain tires, protective fender flares and side skirts et al. For extending camping – wherever you are – the all-electric Airstream features 600-watt rooftop solar panels, a 10.3kWh lithium battery, and a 3000W inverter. The interesting travel trailer is currently available and starts at $76,900.
